The USS Chekov (NCC-57302) was a 24th century Federation starship, a Springfield-class frigate in Starfleet service in the 2360s decade. In the year 2367, the Chekov took part in the Battle of Wolf 359. (STO - Task Force Operation mission: "Battle of Wolf 359")
- This ship was presumably named for Human Starfleet officer Pavel Chekov.
Service history and disposition[]
As part of Federation Starfleet operations in the Trexelian Expanse, the USS Chekov participated in the war games conducted by Starfleet and allied vessels from the 23rd and 24th centuries. Around stardate 73XX.6, the Chekov was rated a level 3 battle group frigate. It featured room for four officers and slots for four weapons or additional systems. Its deflector shields were rated 295, while the structural integrity field, or hull strength, topped at 450. (ST video game: Trexels mission: "Skirmish")
The Chekov also saw action in conflicts with the Klingon Empire, Cardassian Union and Breen Confederacy. (ST video game: Trexels missions: "Events", "Breen Barrier")
The Chekov was part of the fleet of 40 ships assembled by Vice Admiral J.P. Hanson to waylay Borg cube 632[3] at Wolf 359. Hanson's fleet engaged Locutus' cube in battle and hoped to stop it from reaching Earth in Sector 001. Locutus of Borg, the assimilated Starfleet captain Jean-Luc Picard, used his tactical knowledge to decimate the Federation fleet. The Chekov was wrecked and effectively destroyed in the battle. (STO - Task Force Operation mission: "Battle of Wolf 359")
In the 2410s, the Chekov was one of the 29 shipwrecks on display along a docking arm of the Wolf 359 Memorial Station in the Wolf 359 star system. With the intact, decommissioned USS Hood taking a separate docking port, close to the space station's primary hull, the Chekov occupied in 11th memorial position on the spiraling docking arm. (STO - Both Worlds mission: "Omega Molecule Stabilization")
In 2411, Captain Ezri Dax oversaw a Khitomer Alliance training simulation wherein Alliance starships re-enacted the battle on the holodeck to prepare for combat with the Borg Kingdom from the mirror universe. The Chekov was one of the ships recreated holographically for the operation. (STO - Task Force Operation mission: "Battle of Wolf 359")
