The USS Constellation (NX-1974, later NCC-1974 and sometimes also known by registry NCC-2500) was a Federation Constellation-class cruiser in service to Starfleet from the late 23rd to late 24th centuries. When commissioned in 2284, she was the prototype for a new class of starships. (Star Trek: The Magazine)
