The USS Copernicus (NCC-58632) was a Federation starship, an Oberth-class science vessel in Starfleet service.

Service history and disposition[]

Dikembe Ulelo served aboard the Copernicus prior to transferring to the USS Stargazer. (STA novel: Gauntlet)

In the year 2364, the Copernicus was assigned to patrol a sector of space. (TNG episode: "Conspiracy")

Later in the 2360s decade, the Copernicus was assigned to study solar winds and magnetic fields in several star systems across the Alpha Quadrant. Tom Paris served aboard the Copernicus during this time. (VOY novel: Pathways)

The Copernicus visited Deep Space 9 in 2369. Moll Enor was aboard the Copernicus on field assignment and viewed the Bajoran wormhole during the stopover. (TNG novel: The Best and the Brightest)

The Copernicus was referred to as an Oberth-class starship in The Best and the Brightest, Pathways and Gauntlet.
The Star Trek: Infinite game software has each campaign having a certain chance of spawning an Oberth ship named "Copernicus" from a list of preselected names. Through this application of video game logic, it is also possible that this name would be assigned to a number of other types of vessels.
