The USS Copernicus (NCC-623) was a Federation Oberth-class scout in service to Starfleet in the late 23rd century.
Soon after the Whale Probe departed Earth's orbit, the Copernicus returned to Earth and was docked within Earth Spacedock. (TOS movie: The Voyage Home)
- The Copernicus was named for Nicolaus Copernicus, who developed the heliocentric theory of the solar system.
