The USS Destiny was a 24th century Federation starship, an Sovereign-class vessel in Starfleet service in the 2370s decade. (ST video games: Armada, Armada II)

Service history and disposition[]

After graduating from Starfleet Academy, Ezri Tigan was assigned to the Destiny as assistant counselor. (DS9 - Mission Gamma novel: Cathedral)

In the year 2375, the Destiny was assigned to transport the Dax symbiont to Trill, following the death of its previous host, Jadzia, on Deep Space 9. The symbiont took a turn for the worst during the journey, necessitating the implanting of Dax into Ensign Ezri Tigan. (DS9 episodes: "Shadows and Symbols", "Prodigal Daughter")

After accompanying Benjamin Sisko and Jake Sisko to DS9, Ezri Dax planned to return to the Destiny. Sisko convinced her to stay aboard DS9 as its counselor and the Destiny departed without her to the Kalandra sector with the 7th Fleet. (DS9 episode: "Afterimage")

By the 2400s decade, this ship would no longer be in service, being succeeded in name by an experimental science vessel, the USS Destiny (NX-95600). (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

First Splinter timeline[]

In the year 2375, the Destiny was assigned to transport the Dax symbiont to Trill, following the death of its previous host, Jadzia, on Deep Space 9. The Destiny had been infiltrated by a Changeling, which tried to attack the symbiont and then, when cornered, called in a Jem'Hadar attack on the ship. Destiny was damaged, necessitating the implanting of Dax into Ensign Ezri Tigan. (DS9 short story: "Second star to the right...", DS9 episodes: "Shadows and Symbols", "Prodigal Daughter")

In 2376 and 2377, the Destiny was one of many Sovereign-class vessels which helped to repel a Borg invasion of the Alpha Quadrant. (ST video games: Armada, Armada II)

In 2381, after Ezri Dax had been promoted to Captain and commanding officer of the USS Aventine, she reflected upon this incident during the Borg Invasion of 2381, questioning her command abilities. Then first officer Sam Bowers insisted that it was her decisiveness in these situations that made her a qualified commander. (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals)
