The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) was a Constitution-class starship launched in the 2260s by the Federation member planet, Vardaine. This starship was an exact duplicate of the Federation starship USS Enterprise. In 2269, the Enterprise was commanded by Doctor Ies Bredell.
Shortly after the vessel's launch, Doctor Bredell attacked and seriously damaged the USS Republic. The original Enterprise arrived to investigate, and was shocked when the sole surviving crew member accused Captain James T. Kirk of attacking them. The original Enterprise eventually encountered the real attacker - the duplicate Enterprise. Assisted by two Elasi starships, the duplicate Enterprise proceeded to engage the original Enterprise in battle. The original Enterprise managed to destroy both Elasi vessels and the duplicate Enterprise. (TOS video game: 25th Anniversary)
Doctor Bredell survived the battle, having been beamed off the bridge of the duplicate Enterprise by a cloaked Elasi starship. (TOS video game: Judgment Rites)
