The USS Fortuna was a small Federation science exploration vessel in service to Starfleet in the mid-24th century. By the late 2350s, the Fortuna was under the command of Captain Lansing.
By 2359, Lieutenant William T. Riker was serving aboard the Fortuna. In this year, Riker successfully applied for a position as first officer aboard the USS Hood, however his posting was postponed and Riker was instead assigned to Betazed. The Fortuna transported Riker to his new posting, and Captain Lansing and the senior staff threw an impromptu farewell party on the ship's bridge. (TNG novel: Imzadi)
