The USS Hornet (NCC-1714) was a Constitution-class Federation starship in service in the 23rd century.
- FASA supplements give the registry as NCC-1778.
In 2270, the Hornet, under the command of Captain Leedson, was sent to meet with the USS Pompeii and the USS Enterprise to retake the stolen USS Star Empire. The Hornet was the second flagship with Captain Leedson becoming Commodore. The Hornet was damaged in the battle, especially when the Enterprise switched sides. The Hornet surrendered after the Pompeii was destroyed. (TOS novel: Dreadnought!)
In 2283, the Hornet and the Miranda-class USS Invicta located hull and engine components of the USS Menke which went missing in 2272. (FASA RPG: Star Trek IV Sourcebook Update)
