The USS Independence (NCC-90346) was a Sovereign-class heavy explorer launched in the 2370s. The Independence shakedown trials were carried out under the command of Captain Xian Moor. (RPG sourcebook: Starships)
- The USS Independence was destroyed in 2379 (per TNG novel "Double or Nothing"), putting the naming of the succeeding Independence sometime after this date. The Decipher RPG editors took some liberty creating this vessel registry number, as canon producers intended all 2370s starships to have registry numbers beginning with the digit 7.
