The USS Io (NCC-80105) was a Luna-class Federation starship, launched in 2379 under the command of Captain T'Vrea.
Early the following year, the Io made first contact with the Trinni/ek. They later were responsible for discovering the unusual radioactive properties of their sun, after both the Io crew and the Trinni/ek delegation to Earth fell ill due to their effects. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)
In May of 2381, the Io was involved in the survey of an asteroid field. (ST novel: A Singular Destiny)
Also that year, the Io's warp core needed to be replaced, so that the Totality would not be able to destroy the ship. (TOS novel: Captain's Glory)
- As this is a "Shatnerverse" novel, it is unclear how consistent this is with the mainline novel continuity.
