The USS James T. Kirk (NCC-91277) was an Exeter-class Federation starship in Starfleet service during the early 25th century.

Ensign Miral Paris was assigned to the Kirk, in the security division, at some point after her graduation from Starfleet Academy in the mid-2390s. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)

Eventually, Paris gained the title of security chief on the Kirk. By the year 2409, the Kirk was commanded by Captain Thelin.

While on patrol in the JFS 47 system, the Kirk was ambushed by a squadron of Klingon vessels under the command of Ambassador B'Vat. Kirk was quickly crippled and boarded. Another Starfleet vessel arrived and assisted the Kirk, but not before Lieutenant Paris was kidnapped by B'Vat as part of his plan to change history by time travel. BackgroundEdit

The Kirk was originally a Stargazer-class cruiser, and was later retconned to be an Excelsior-class cruiser with the registry NCC-2000-D. It was again retconned to be an Exeter-class cruiser with the registry NCC-91277.
