The USS Madrid was a Federation starship in service in the 23rd century.
In the 2280s, the Madrid was attached to Starfleet Academy as a training vessel, and was often dispatched on missions full of cadets. On one training voyage in 2280, two crewmen on a landing party were attacked by a pack of Denebian slime devil's. Fortunately, they were saved by Cadet Dmitri Valtane who fough the slime devil's off with only a stick. (ST video game: Starship Creator)
