The USS Marco Polo (NCC-7219) was a Federation Challenger-class starship in service to Starfleet in the mid 24th century. As of 2367, this deep space explorer was under the command of Captain Lyrinda Halk, and assigned to exploration in space beyond Federation territory.

On or about stardate 44612.3, the Marco Polo was attacked by unidentified assailants in the Beta Marada star system, resulting in widespread injuries and deaths. A distress signal was answered by the USS Enterprise-D, and with the assistance of that vessel, Commander William T. Riker was able to navigate the Marco Polo through a high-gravity anomaly and evade their attackers. (TNG comic: "Thin Ice")
