The USS Masao was a Federation starship, a Daedalus-class vessel in Starfleet service in the 22nd and 23rd centuries. (Star Trek Magazine Issue 162: "Blast Off!", ST video game: Trexels mission: "Skirmish")

Service history and disposition[]

Around stardate 73XX.6 (circa 2270), the Masao was rated a level 1 battle group vessel. It featured room for two officers and slots for two weapons or additional systems. Its deflector shields were rated 50, while the structural integrity field, or hull strength, topped at 200. (ST video game: Trexels mission: "Skirmish")

History[]

22nd century[]

The Masao entered service after the year 2143. (Star Trek Magazine Issue 162: "Blast Off!")

The ship served during the Earth-Romulan War. (Seekers novel: All That's Left)

The ship was retired prior to 2196. (Star Trek Magazine Issue 162: "Blast Off!")

23rd century[]

In 2264, the Masao, along with the USS Lovell and the USS Zander, was retrieved from the Qualor II surplus depot and recommissioned for the Starfleet Corps of Engineers. These Daedalus-class ships were specifically requested by Captain Robert Andreassi, the Corps of Engineers commanding officer. They were then refitted by the Corps with many of the latest advances in command, propulsion and tactical systems. (Star Trek Magazine Issue 162: "Blast Off!")

By 2269, the ship was still in service to the Corps of Engineers. (Seekers novel: All That's Left)

As part of Federation Starfleet operations in the Trexelian Expanse, the USS Masao participated in the war games conducted by Starfleet and allied vessels from the 23rd and 24th centuries. (ST video game: Trexels mission: "Skirmish")

The Masao also saw action in conflicts with the Klingon Empire and Cardassian Union. (ST video game: Trexels mission: "Events")
