The USS McCoy was a Nova-class Federation starship serving in the early 25th century.

The ship was part of the Starfleet force assigned to protect Starbase 24 from an attacking Klingon fleet. When the starbase was evacuated, a number of scientists from the base were transferred to the McCoy for safe transport out of the system.

It's highly possible that the ship was named after the 23rd century physician doctor Leonard McCoy, who was the Chief medical officer aboard the USS Enterprise and the USS Enterprise-A. (STO mission: "Starbase 24 (STO)")
