The USS Melbourne was a Nebula-class Federation starship in service during the 24th century.

The Melbourne was the first Nebula-class ship to incorporate certain radical design changes. It was constructed at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards under the supervision of Thomas Halloway. Commander William T. Riker of the USS Enterprise-D was offered the command of the Melbourne, but he turned it down to remain as first officer on board the Enterprise.

When the Borg invaded the Federation in 2366/2367, Halloway rushed to complete construction on the Melbourne and took it into battle against the Borg at the Battle of Wolf 359.
