The USS Mustang (NCC-85343) was a Federation starship in Starfleet service in the 24th century. This ship was in active service around the 2360s decade, under the command of Captain Arakaki.

In the year 2364, Mustang and Callisto were ordered to observe the societal evolution of planet Gamma Argus II, where a civilization of natives originated. The natives maintained a pre-warp drive society that, in that year, made the Gamma Argus star system subject to the Federation's Prime Directive. Captains Arakaki and Goldberg were granted discretion as agents of the Federation to decide whether first contact with the natives was warranted, with Arakaki's orders being sent by Admiral Sandy Fries at the Starfleet Mission Operations Unit. When Captain Jean-Luc Picard ordered Data to review Starfleet orders for inconsistencies in that same year, this instruction was one of the pieces of information that was viewed.
