The USS Nebula was the prototype Nebula-class explorer in service to the Federation Starfleet in the late 24th century. She was launched in 2357. (Decipher RPG module: Starfleet Operations Manual)

In the 2370s, the Nebula was assigned to Sector 001 as a test vessel for various pod configurations for the Nebula-class. (Decipher RPG module: Starships)

Various sources have assigned different registry numbers to the Nebula. The Decipher RPG module: Starships gives the registry as NX-60602, while an article in the Star Trek: Communicator magazine has various images of the Nebula with both NCC-60147 and NCC-60000 being applied in different images.
