The USS Nelson was a Federation Nelson type starship in service to Starfleet in the mid-23rd century.

Prior to her assignment to the USS Enterprise in the early 2250s, Gabrielle Carlotti served aboard the Nelson. (EV comic: "Flesh of My Flesh")

By the late 2260s, the Nelson had either been lost or decommissioned, as a new Saladin-class (Cochise-subclass) destroyer bearing the same name had been authorized for construction by Starfleet appropriation. (TOS reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)
