History
On Stardate 53551.3 (July 20, 2376), the USS Enterprise-E found the USS Protégé adrift near Starbase 612 following a surprise attack by the Borg Collective. Captain Jean-Luc Picard had away teams transport to the Protégé and the rest of the derelict fleet. The Protégé returned to duty in time to ward off further Borg attacks and destroy their base in the sector. (TNG video game: Armada mission: Dark Omens)
Afterwards, the Protégé was part of the of fleet assembled to protect Earth from the Borg. The battle ended with the Federation Alliance's victory. (TNG video game: Armada mission: A Line in the Sand)
Alternate timelines
In an alternate timeline averted by the crew of the Enterprise-E, the Protégé was destroyed in 2376 in orbit of Earth, by a Borg cube led by Locutus. (TNG video game: Armada mission: "The Twilight Hour")
