The USS Puyallup was a Federation cruiser in service in the late 24th century.

In 2370, the Puyallup transported a family of Hortas from Janus VI to Bajor, via Deep Space 9. For the journey the aft section of the ship was filled with concrete to simulate the solid environment the Horta were accustomed to.

Just before reaching DS9, the Puyallup was attacked by the Cardassian ship Dagger which kidnapped the mother Horta, Ttan. The Puyallup's crew were injured in the attack but suffered no casualties.

The Puyallup was later tractored to DS9 by the runabout Amazon and docked for repairs, though these were delayed when the Horta eggs the Puyallup had delivered hatched on DS9 resulting in the baby Horta eating their way through much of the station, requiring more immediate attention from the repair teams. (DS9 novel: Devil in the Sky)

The Puyallup's class was never specified, it was described as being relatively small, and featured a saucer section and two warp nacelles.
Likely named for Puyallup, the birthplace of "Devil in the Sky"'s co-author Greg Cox.
