The USS Regulus (NCC-1840) was a Federation starship, a Constitution-class heavy cruiser of the Tikopai-subclass ordered for Starfleet service in the 23rd century. The Regulus was named for the Regulus star system.
Service history and disposition[]
Construction of Regulus as a class I starship was authorized by the Starfleet appropriation of stardate 5930. (TOS reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)
In the year 2268, five different alien races unsuccessfully tried to seize control of the starship, but were each thwarted by the crew. One year later, in 2269, the Regulus was assigned to survey the Antares Rift, but took damage, and had to abandon her mission.
