The USS Republic was a Federation starship in Starfleet service in the late 24th century.
In 2379, after the disasterous Tezwa affair, the USS Republic was grouped with the USS Musashi and the USS Amargosa and sent to that world. The three vessels were sent to aid the USS Enterprise with the reconstruction of Tezwa, where millions of citizens lay dead and most major city structures had been destroyed by the Klingons. Shortly after the publication of A Time to Kill & A Time to Heal, author David Mack indicated at the http://www.trekbbs.com forums that the Republic was intended to be a Sovereign-class vessel. The forum thread has since been removed from that site, and no mention of this background information has, to date, been included in any licensed Star trek work.
