The USS Sarajevo (NCC-38529) was an Istanbul-class Federation starship that was in service during the 24th century. (ST reference: Star Trek Encyclopedia)
Prior to 2373, the Sarajevo was one of several Federation starships to be listed as missing and presumed destroyed while participating in exploratory missions to the Gamma Quadrant. (DS9 episode: "In Purgatory's Shadow")
Apparently, the Sarajevo was recovered by 2374, as it reported suffering casualties during the Dominion War. (DS9 episode: "In the Pale Moonlight")
- The Sarajevo was either named for the Capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina or the 22nd century Earth starship Sarajevo.
