USS Schiaparelli

The USS Schiaparelli (NCC-3819) was a Ptolemy-class (mk VIA Keppler-subclass) Federation class I transport tug starship ordered for Starfleet service in the 23rd century.

Construction of Schiaparelli was authorized by the Starfleet appropriation of stardate 4990. (TOS reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)

The stardate given would seem to suggest this ship was ordered sometime during the TOS era.

In late 2348 or early 2349, Commander David Gold was serving aboard the Schiaparelli. That year, the ship was at Earth, and scheduled to travel to the Denobulan sector. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace) The Schiaparelli would later become Captain Gold's first command. (SCE eBook: War Stories)
