The USS Tamberlaine was a Federation Starfleet starship, a survey vessel in the 24th century.
The vessel was primarily crewed by Humans which made it's standard environment rather cool and dry for Ensign Thirishar ch'Thane when he served on the vessel prior to being assigned to Deep Space 9. (DS9 novel: Twilight)
During ch'Thane's time on the ship, the vessel's primary mission was to collect data on the Vorta. (DS9 novel: Avatar)
