The USS Templar was a Federation starship, an Akira-class cruiser in Starfleet service in the 24th century. The Templar saw action against the Borg Collective in the late 2370s and early 2380s. (TNG video games: Armada, Armada II; ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals)

HistoryEdit

On stardate 53550.8, the Templar helped the starship USS Enterprise-E defend the timeship USS Premonition from a Borg attack in the Barisa sector. (ST video game: Armada mission: Premonitions)

On stardate 54771.6, the Templar was part of the joint Federation-Borg armada crossing through Rift Alpha into fluidic space to destroy the Rift Maker to end the Species 8472 incursions into the Alpha and Delta Quadrants. When the Rift Maker was destroyed, the Borg Queen and Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Enterprise-E ordered the armada to return through Rift Alpha. Along with the rest of the armada, the Templar returned safely to the Hurik system, where the Federation-Borg alliance was called off by Picard, and the Borg were escorted back to the Borg transwarp portal. (ST video game: Armada II mission: "Rifts")

During the Borg invasion in 2381, the Templar was one of the vessels which amassed at the Azure Nebula to defend against the Borg. When the USS Aventine and Enterprise-E were over three hours to report back from subspace tunnel twenty-two alpha, Captain Chakotay of the USS Voyager prepared to order the Templar, the USS T'Kumbra, and the USS Saladin through, treating it as a combat sortie. However, tunnel twenty-six opened to allow over seven thousand Borg cubes before the ships could depart, assaulting the allied fleet. Voyager was the only ship to survive the onslaught. (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals)
