The USS Vega was a Federation Constitution-class (Tikopai-subclass) heavy cruiser starship in Starfleet service in the 24th century, active in the 2250s. This vessel was named for the star Vega.

Construction of Vega was authorized by the Starfleet appropriation of stardate 5930. (TOS reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)

During the 2250s Four Years War, Sven van Anling served as executive officer of the Vega. In a later Contemporary Federation Military History lecture (FEH-313/2J), Commodore van Anling recalled that the hull structure of Tikopai and Achernar-subclass starship precluded the possibility of refitting the vessels with that era's phasers and photon torpedo weapons, but that the Vega was still a competent vessel. This vessel was eventually succeeded in bearing the name Vega by the later 24th century, when the Rigel-class USS Vega was in service. (Last Unicorn RPG module: The Price of Freedom)
