The USS Vigilant (NCC-94794) was a 24th century Federation starship, the Vigilant-class tactical escort prototype in Starfleet service from the 2390s[1] decade. (STO website : Ships of the Line, STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Service history and disposition[]

A Defiant-class destroyer USS Vigilant had been in service in the 2370s decade. (ST video game: Armada)

In the 2380s decade of the First Splinter[2] timeline, the Vigilant name was carried over to an unarmed Vigilant-class scout. (DS9 novel: Sacraments of Fire)

In 2394, Starfleet focused on more combat-oriented starships again. The new USS Vigilant was an escort/warship again, based on the Defiant class of the 2370s. The Vigilant entered service in the year 2394, alongside its sister ship USS Defiant. Command was given to Captain Louisa Mendoza-Perez. Mendoza-Perez touted the Vigilant as the finest warship in the fleet and advised to leave diplomacy to the diplomats. (STO website : Ships of the Line)

Vigilant-94794

The Vigilant in 2410.

The Vigilant remained in service into the 25th century. In the 2400s decade, Starfleet was involved in the Federation-Klingon War of 2405-2410. Thanks to the Fleet Modernization Program underway at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, the ship's components remained interchangeable with Defiant-class escorts, and the ship was rated as a tier 4 tactical escort. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

From the year 2410 onward, the Vigilant represented its class in the Starfleet Shipyards Operations interface. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Legendary pilot warship classes

Legendary starships.

Following the Battle of Excalbia on stardate 84999.22[3] in early 2411, which saw the prominent involvement of hero ships from the Federation's past and present, the Vigilant was among the tactical escorts that received a refit to legendary pilot warship qualifications (STO - Legacy missions: "Measure of Morality (Part 2)", "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", STO website: 10th Anniversary Legendary Starship Bundles : Legendary Pilot Warship)
