Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Did you really need to insult the Non-Canon Wiki like that? It comes across as being very rude and insulting, especialy given all the work we here do to archieve information from the novels. The importance of Memory Alpha's work shouldn't be understated, of course -- but Memory Alpha's canon policy prevents it from archiving information from the novels that is really quite handy to have for those of us who prefer the novels to the canon, so I find it quite unfair to imply that this is somehow less "real" or less legitimate of a Star Trek wiki than Memory Alpha. -- Sci 03:33 16 June 2006 UTC

It is less legitimate becuase it is non-canon, and usually of much lower quality. That being said, I still enjoy much of it, which is why I stop by from time to time, albiet ususally as an IP. -- Jaz 18:13, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
Quality is something we have to work on, yes, but that's more a function of this wiki's age and lack of popularity relative to MA -- and we work every day to improve the quality. I'm not following why the fact that we archive non-canonical info makes it less legitimate, though; canon is only relevent when one is writing a new Trek adventure and has to know what must remain uncontradicted or when one is writing a Memory Alpha article and needs to know what may not be included. Neither of those situations apply here, since we don't write Trek stories and we archive anything from a licensed source; how are we less legitimate, then? -- Sci 06:03 18 June 2006 UTC

Canon schmanon. Canon is irrelevant.--Turtletrekker 02:52, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
