Valak was a male Vulcan Starfleet lieutenant (j.g.) who, during the Borg Invasion of 2381, was assigned as an operations officer aboard the USS Monarch. Valak and his wife, Lieutenant (j.g.) T'Mura, were in the midst of Pon farr when the Monarch engaged the Borg at Lorillia. T'Mura was killed in the battle, leaving Valak's emotional control destroyed. Valak was counseled in the weeks following the invasion by Counselor Brian Ellis at Starbase 22. (ST novel: A Singular Destiny)
