In an alternate reality, Validus was a member of the Imperial Elite, the super-powered enforcers of the Imperial Planets Science Police. In this reality, Validus was a bionically enhanced mugato that could be controlled by signals sent to his exposed brain.
When the Legion of Super-Heroes and a landing party from the Federation starship USS Enterprise were trapped in the Imperial Planets' timeline, Validus and the Imperial Elite squared off against the time-travellers and were defeated. Validus in particular was impervious to Spock's phaser stun and Saturn Girl's telepathic attacks, probably due to his lack of independant nervous system response. Spock did succeed in incapacitating Validus with a Vulcan nerve pinch. (TOS - Legion of Super-Heroes comic: "Issue 3")
