Vod was a Trill symbiont whose hosts included Jayvin.

In 2265, Jayvin Vod discovered a Parasite inside a rogue comet, which dissolved the host-symbiont bond, and corrupted the memories of the symbiont. Vod was allowed to die, and its death, as well as the existence of the Parasites, was covered up by the Trill Symbiosis Commission. (DS9 short story: "Sins of the Mother")
