Walter Horne was a 24th century Human man, an accomplished author and professor at Starfleet Academy.
Biography[]
Horne was highly skilled in writing, administration, Human and Vulcan culture, diplomacy, Federation history, and Federation Standard.
After earning a bachelors degree from Harvard University, Horne earned masters and doctoral degrees from Cambridge University followed by four years on the university faculty. Horne began teaching at the Academy in the 2320s decade, and was appointed chairman of the communications department in 2349. (Last Unicorn RPG - SA module: Starfleet Academy Handbook)
In the 2320s, Jean-Luc Picard attended Horne's creative writing class, and in 2368, Wesley Crusher did as well. (TNG episode: "The Game")
By the 2370s, he managed staff that included Professors Sally Jacoby, Joshua Meyrowitz, Noh Hask, and Mara Tonn. He oversaw a curriculum that included CMN 101 Creative Writing, CWN 102 Communications and Social Order, CMN 200 Public Speaking, CMN 204 Introduction to Argumentation, CMN 370 Systems and Theories of Rhetoric, and CMN 498 First Contact.
As of 2371, Horne continued to chair the department. He had ten grandchildren and resided in San Francisco. He also authored The Tears of the Pleides and The Light of Alpha III, and won several literary awards. (Last Unicorn RPG - SA module: Starfleet Academy Handbook)
