The Wambundu was a class of ship built in the 24th century. By the 2360s the Wambundu vessels were in service as light cruisers, with some ships equipped as medical transports. (TNG episodes: "The Arsenal of Freedom", "Force of Nature")

The Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 1: The Ships of Starfleet, an unpublished sourcebook from Last Unicorn Games, refers to the Wambundu-class as being a proto-Nebula-class heavy cruiser design that entered service in 2328.
