Ensign York was a junior Starfleet officer serving aboard the USS Enterprise, under the command of Captain James T. Kirk in the 2260s.

York was on duty on the bridge in 2268 when the Enterprise was dispatched to the Tautee star system to investigate the disappearance of all fifteen planets in the system. When the Enterprise was struck by a subspace wave, York was knocked from his station. Thankfully, he wasn't injured and quickly resumed his post. (TOS novel: The Rings of Tautee)
