Zane Laumer was a Starfleet ensign who served as tactical officer aboard the USS Samson in 2372.

Six hours before the Samson's destruction, the ship's computer identified Laumer as being asleep on his bunk. However, a visual recording taking at that exact moment showed Laumer entering the main phaser control area.
